Woodbridge is a place in Suffolk ( East Anglia ) in England , with a population of 10,956 (as of 2001), located on the River Deben , first historical mention in 970.

The former administrative seat of the Suffolk Coastal district , which was dissolved in East Suffolk in 2019, was once a port town and has been known as a center for boat building, rope making and sailmaking since the Middle Ages. King Edward III and Sir Francis Drake had warships built in Woodbridge.
