Baron André Henry Roland Casimir d'Erlanger (born November 24, 1895 in Woodbridge , † January 2, 1937 in Lomaso ) was a French racing driver .

Career in motorsport

André d'Erlanger was a member of the Bentley Boys in the 1920s and competed in sports car races for the British car brand . He competed twice for Walter Owen Bentley's team in the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 1927 he drove a Bentley 3 Liter Super Sport with George Duller . The car was eliminated because Duller was involved in the Maison Blanche accident.

After finishing eleventh overall on a 2-liter Lagonda in 1928 , he celebrated his greatest success at Le Mans in 1929 . Bentley celebrated a triple victory and behind the winners Woolf Barnato and Tim Birkin and second-placed Jack Dunfee and Glen Kidston , d'Erlanger and partner Dudley Benjafield crossed the finish line in third.
