Flow injection analysis

The flow injection analysis (FIA) is an automated procedures in analytical chemistry for the routine determination of analyte concentrations . It is used for controls and routine analyzes in laboratories in the clinical sector and in the environmental and pharmaceutical sector and has the advantage of low costs and versatile application possibilities.

functionality

By injecting the sample into a continuous stream of carrier, the analyte is dispersed . The resulting concentration profile can be registered using suitable detectors. By comparing it with a previously recorded calibration curve, conclusions can be drawn about the concentration of the analyte. A corresponding device is a FIAS [engl. Flow Injection Analysis System].

Almost all detectors from analytics can be used. These include photometric and electrochemical detectors.
