A pilot's hat or hat or pilot's cap is a headgear for pilots of small aircraft . It was worn both to protect against the cold, but also as protection against bumps. It became known mainly through the use of sport pilots, but also through the images of fighter pilots from the First and Second World Wars .

It is a round hood made of leather , which is partially quilted. Aviator glasses are often attached and fastened to it. This type of pilot's hat is firmly lashed with adjustable straps. It covers the ears and most of the cheeks and is buckled under the chin. The pilot's cap is still partly worn by parachutists today .
