Gutenfeld Air Base

The airbase Gutenfeld was an air base of the Air Force of the Armed Forces near the East Prussian Gutenfeld .

history

The air base was rebuilt between 1936 and 1937. The runway was grassy. There were five aircraft hangars in a row in the south and south-east of the air base. Behind it further commercial and accommodation buildings. The flight control building was east of the airfield. The I./JG 21 was the first flying unit to be stationed here from July 1939 . The Air War School 4, the Aviator Training Regiment 53 and other schools were also housed here from 1939 to 1945. In the spring of 1945, Soviet troops occupied the area of ​​the air base. Lugowoje ( Russian Луговое ) has been part of the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast since 1945 . The Soviet Air Force used the airfield until 1990. Since then, the area has been deserted.
