The Flightstar is a single-seat ultralight aircraft (UL) of the first generation and was first sold in Germany around 1982. This is a tube cloth UL with a half-shell cladding made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) for the pilot. The overall good flight characteristics are somewhat at the expense of the cruising speed. The UL continues to be built as a two-seater in the USA and offered as a kit.

Today (2009) two versions of the single-seater are registered in Germany, the Flightstar Pioneer and the Flightstar I:

  • The Flightstar Pioneer was originally equipped with the Kawasaki TA 440 engine from the snowmobile. The maximum take-off weight is 227 kilograms. Cruising speed around 75 km / h with a maximum climb of 2.5 m / s
  • The Flightstar I is an improved and reinforced version of the Flightstar Pioneer. In addition to increasing the load to 255 kilograms, the engine was changed. A Rotax 447 with B-gearbox and 40 HP and IVO propeller is now used . The cruising speed increased to 85 km / h.

The two-seat variant, the so-called Flightstar II , has also been approved in Germany for several years . This version is equipped with the Rotax 582 or Rotax 912 UL with 80 HP. Full cladding is also possible as an option.
