Flea combs remove fleas from the fur of flea-infested animals (e.g. cats , dogs ) without the need to use insecticides . The best way to comb out the fleas with this comb is to wash the fur beforehand and soften it with a water- soda solution. This will soften the chitin shell and make it easier to comb out the flea.

However, flea combs do not guarantee complete elimination of a flea infestation. On the one hand, eggs can remain in the fur, on the other hand, fleas like to hide in the animals' sleeping quarters. The most important function of a flea comb is first of all to be able to detect an infestation with parasites and then to take appropriate measures.
