The Florida Gulf Coast University ( FGCU ) is a state university in Fort Myers in the US state of Florida . It was founded in 1991. As of October 2014, 14,492 students were enrolled.

history

The university was founded in 1991 as the newest university in the State University System of Florida . Due to the choice of location and construction delays, the first lectures were not held until 1997.

Sports

Florida Gulf Coast University's sports teams are called the Eagles . The university is a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference .
