The Lipetsk Airport ( Russian Аэропорт Липецк ) is a small commercial airport near the city of Lipetsk in Russia . It is the only airport in Lipetsk Oblast .
history
It was built as a small regional airport in 1966 and a new terminal was added in 1987. At the end of the 1990s the airport had to be closed due to financial problems. In the 2000s, however, it was put back into operation and today it handles flights to and from Moscow , Saint Petersburg , Mineralnyje Vody and Sochi . Further flights and the expansion of the airport as an international airport are currently being planned.
