The Katowice-Muchowiec Airfield (Polish: Lotnisko Katowice-Muchowiec ) is an airfield for general aviation in the Katowice district of Muchowiec (German Muchowietz ) in the Silesian Voivodeship , Poland . The airport is 3 km from the city center south of the A4 .

history

In 1926 a connection to Warsaw was established from Muchowiec . After mining damage , the scheduled service was discontinued in 1966 and relocated to the then military airfield in Pyrzowice (now Katowice Airport ).

Expansion plans

It is planned to build a new 850 m long and 25 m wide runway with concrete as the runway surface in order to be able to accommodate machines with up to 18 passengers. As part of this expansion, a terminal, parking positions and hangars are also to be created. Funding has not yet been secured. Originally the cost was supposed to be 10 million zloty , meanwhile (2011) it was assumed to be 50 million zloty.
