Fluorinert
Fluorinert ( 3M ) and Flutec ( F2 Chemicals in Preston ) are brand names for inert , high-density dielectric fluids. They are good heat carriers and are therefore used as coolants , among other things . Further areas of application are burn- in tests in electronics and for leakage tests. Because of their good adsorption capacity of oxygen they are well suited for liquid breathing suitable. The perfluorinated compounds are made according to the Fowler process manufactured.
They are used as coolants, for example, in the radar of the F-16 , the electric drives of high-speed trains such as the ICE or the TGV (around 3000 l). The Cray-2 supercomputer was also cooled with a Fluorinert.
