Flying Fathers

The Flying Fathers Hockey Club is a Canadian ice hockey team made up of Catholic clergymen.

history

The team was founded in Ontario in 1963 and 1964, respectively, by priests Brian McKee and Les Costello to raise money for eye surgery. After the 25th anniversary, some of the founding members ended their membership in 1980 for reasons of age. The team continued to exist until 2008 and 2009, respectively, and by then had completed 900 games in North America and Europe, which brought in four million dollars in donations. In 2018 a new team was put together by John Perdue, a Catholic priest from Peterborough . For the first time, a nun came into the team.

Playing technique

The team plays their games with many shows and is therefore also known as the Harlem Globetrotters of ice hockey. In addition to slapstick interludes such as cake toss and a horse as a goalkeeper, there are also church references. B. the first goalscorer ordained a bishop .
