Fontaine Napoléon

The Fontaine Napoléon is a combined source in the French department of Ain . It is located on the ascent of the Col de la Faucille at an altitude of 1040 m in a curve on the way from Gex to the Jura Mountains . The spring owes its name to the fact that the road was built in 1805 when Napoleon began his rule.

The construction of this military strategic road, which leads from Les Rousses over the Col de la Faucille into the Pays de Gex , was preceded by the occupation of the Dappental on the Franco-Swiss border by Napoleon in 1805.
