Well room

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A well room or spring socket is the enclosure of a spring for the extraction of drinking water or medicinal water . Well houses as the closing structures of the wells prevent surface water from flowing into the well .

The structure consists of masonry stones with spaces in between through which the water to be collected can flow . In the subsequent water basin, solids carried along in the water, which pollute the water, can settle. If it is more elaborately designed and protected by a roof or other construction, it is traditionally referred to as a well house or well house .

The term well room or well chamber is also used in today's drilling wells .
