Fontane Prize of the Theodor Fontane Society

The Fontane Prize for the younger generation was donated by the Theodor Fontane Society Potsdam on the occasion of Theodor Fontane's 175th birthday in 1998 . The then Honorary President Charlotte Jolles suggested this .

The competition for the Fontane Prize aims to introduce young people to the work and life of Theodor Fontanes. Eligible are pupils from the age of 16 as well as students up to the age of 25 who are supposed to deal independently with a topic given by the Theodor Fontane Society in an essay.

The prize is awarded at irregular intervals, up to now in 1994 and 1998.
