Fontane (potato)

Fontane and other types of potatoes

Fontane is a medium early potato variety. It is mainly used for French fries production; its starch content has tended to be above average over the years. Around 45,000 plants per hectare should be aimed for for economic cultivation. Fontane needs a lot of potassium , which is why it is advisable to split the potassium dose in autumn and spring; on potassium foliar fertilization with potassium nitrate they responded positively. The Agria variety was the basis of the Fontane variety.
