The Ford TH! NK was a series of electric vehicles from 1999 to 2006 that were manufactured by TH! NK Mobility , then part of the Ford Motor Company .

history

The short-lived line comprised four models in 1999: the TH! NK Neighbor and the TH! NK City as well as the electric bicycles TH! NK Bike Traveler and TH! NK Bike Fun . Ford MC sold its shares and the resulting company, Think Global, produced electric cars in Norway until it went bankrupt in 2011.

TH! NK City

The two-door Think City offered space for the driver and front passenger and reached a top speed of 90 km / h. The car accelerated from 0 to 48 km / h in seven seconds and weighed 2075 kilos. The model was 9.8 feet (3.0 m) long, 5.25 feet (1.60 m) wide, and 5.1 feet (1.6 m) high.

TH! NK Neighbor

TH! NK Neighbor is designed to meet the NHTSA specification for short-range electric vehicles. Design and manufacture were not related to TH! NK City . The TH! NK Neighbor was originally offered in two models, a two-seater and a four-seater, with a version for commercial vehicles with two passengers being offered towards the end of production. The TH! NK Neighbor had a fixed roof and was open on the sides, so a rain cover was optionally available to protect the passengers from the elements. The normal top speed was regulated to 40 km / h (25 mph) in accordance with NHTSA requirements and there was also a lawn mode in which the top speed was set to 24 km / h (15 mph) for use on golf courses. was established. Several options have been developed for use on the golf course: a luggage rack, a holder for scorecards , tees and balls. There was also a trunk option for the four-passenger version that could be used as a cooler.

Disposal

Great controversy erupted when Ford decided to destroy excess TH! NK City lease vehicles in the United States. After protests by environmental groups, including a Greenpeace rally on the roof of Ford's Norwegian offices, Ford decided to ship the leased vehicles to Norway and sell them there.
