Forest Mountain

The Forest Mountain ( Russian : Лecoгopнaя , Lesogornaja ) is a breed of pig from Armenia .

Breeding history

The breed was developed by crossing indigenous sows from Northern and Eastern Armenia with boars of the Large White and Mangalica pig breeds .

Characteristics

  • Color white, rarely black
  • Chest deep and wide
  • Body long
  • Feet high with strong claws
  • Thick bristles with undercoat
  • Weight sows 165 kg, boars 260 kg
  • Hardness and adaptability to barren mountain pastures

There are 4 boar lines.

Occurrence

The breed is kept in the forest and mountain regions of Armenia . In 1980 there were 579 purebred animals.
