Sabatina James

Sabatina James , also Sabatina (born November 20, 1982 in Dhedar ), is the pseudonym of a Pakistani - Austrian human rights activist , publicist and critic of Islam .

Life

Sabatina James lived in Dhedar, Pakistan, until she was ten years old and then moved with her Muslim family to Austria in the village of Sarleinsbach in the Mühlviertel . The family later moved to Linz . James integrated and assimilated quickly in Upper Austria, which was rejected by her parents, who saw Austria only as a temporary place of residence. In later interviews she expressed herself positively about the conditions in Sarleinsbach and Linz. She was received there with great warmth and everyone, especially her teachers, tried to integrate the family into the new environment. Since restrictions on their daughter were no longer sufficient, the family decided to forcibly marry James to their cousin in Lahore . When she did not obey the orders, her parents left her in Pakistan, where her aunt sent her to a madrasa (Koran school). In order to be able to travel to Austria, James first agreed to marry her cousin. However, when she arrived in Austria, she refused to marry. After death threats from the family, she went into hiding and assumed a new identity. There was a break with the family.

Today she is the ambassador of the women's rights organization Terre des Femmes and - as a convert to Catholic Christianity and thus an apostate - founded the registered association Sabatina in 2006 for the equal rights of Muslim women. She took the name James after her conversion to Christianity. She was baptized in 2003. James was the laudator of the Women's World Awards 2009 in Vienna alongside Queen Nūr of Jordan .

Sabatina James was chosen as the new face of Arko at a model casting by Kanjo Také in 2009 .

Because of the threat from Islamists, James is protected by bodyguards.
