history
Forest & Bird was originally founded in 1923 to protect New Zealand's original forests and the birds that live in them. Since then, the organization has expanded its work to include the comprehensive protection of all organisms in New Zealand, as well as the islands' landscapes, ocean, rivers and lakes.
