Hilary Burn

Hilary Burn (born April 8, 1946 in Macclesfield , Cheshire ) is a British animal illustrator.

Life

Burn is the daughter of Colin Barber, an engineering draftsman . She went to Macclesfield High School and studied at the University of Leeds , where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in zoology in 1967 . From 1968 to 1971 she was a biology teacher at a comprehensive school in Leeds . In 1971 she began illustrating natural history books and drawing birds in gouache . In 1983 she was elected a member of the Society of Wildlife Artists . Burn has worked as an illustrator on numerous ornithological works, including the Handbook of the Birds of the World .
