Molding line

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A molding machine is used in foundries to machine the molds into which the liquid material is poured. Especially for this application with binders mixed molding material is z. B. compressed by hydraulic cylinders , by air pulses or vacuum around the corresponding model.

There are essentially two types of molding systems:

Box molding line

In the case of the box molding plant, the pressed molding sand with the hollow mold on the inside as well as the pouring funnel and riser are located in a metal box open at the top. This usually has a horizontal division. The molding boxes are placed under the casting furnace by a conveyor line and poured there.

Boxless molding line

Functional principle of a boxless Disamatic molding line

The mold halves, including the funnel half, are alternately pressed into mold blocks in such a way that a continuous strip of molding sand is created, which is pushed through a belt conveyor under the spout of the casting furnace. Here the division is arranged vertically.
