Automotive Technology Research Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Forschungsvereinigung Automobiltechnik eV (FAT) is a department of the VDA ( Association of the Automotive Industry ) in Germany. It was founded in 1971 and promotes scientific automotive research. All areas of automobile construction including automobile parts and accessories as well as the environmental relevance and safety of products and production systems as well as production processes are taken into account. For this purpose, the FAT awards contracts to research institutions in the following areas:

  • safety
  • environment
  • Material / manufacturing processes
  • Transport efficiency
  • Electronics and software
  • Calculation methods

The individual project description, the selection and the supervision are carried out by working groups (AK) and sub-working groups (UAK) or by their members. The GIDAS project is carried out in cooperation with the Federal Highway Research Institute .
