Research Association for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Research Association for Machine Tools and Manufacturing Technology eV (FWF) is the funding association for the financing of research projects of the Association of German Machine Tool Builders (VDW). It was established in 1922 and covers its financial budget with funds from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) through the working group of industrial research associations "Otto von Guericke" e. V. (AiF) as well as through grants from the VDW, most of which come from the contributions of the member companies.

Project implementation

Funding is primarily provided for projects by production engineering institutes, which are usually affiliated with technical universities. Usually, project goals are set by working groups of the VDW, which consist of representatives of the member companies and the association itself. Usually there is then a tendering phase, during which production engineering institutes can submit offers. The working groups are responsible for project control and coordination during the project term. Projects are completed by creating a final report, which can be obtained from the VDW.
