The Forster Linde is a natural monument in the Aachen district of Aachen-Forst . Her age was estimated to be more than 800 years during a visit by Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau in 1852 . However, the age of the linden tree cannot be precisely determined.

The base of the Forster linden tree is 9.5 m in circumference and five stems spring from it at a height of 2 to 3 m. They were created around 300 years ago when the original main trunk in the crown center must have broken out. At this point there is now a concrete seal with which the cavities were filled in the post-war years - a measure for which modern tree care would know alternatives.

The Forster linden tree is a winter linden tree , around it are kindergarten and church - and an old, restored aldermen's house . This suggests that in earlier times it was a judicial linden tree , especially since an old district name is Galgenplai nearby . A stylized linden tree can also be found in the traditional coat of arms of a Forster rifleman from the 18th century who lived in the court house on the linden tree.

Today, the Forster linden tree is particularly cared for and monitored: it is surrounded by fences, the head drives are connected with ropes for stabilization. The Forster Linde has been listed as a natural monument for more than 30 years and is regularly examined and maintained.

In the immediate vicinity of Forster Linde is the Forster Linde Aachen Municipal Catholic Primary School named after it .
