history

Forsth were founded in Lucerne , Switzerland . Influenced by Scandinavian Black Metal , they tried to influence the Swiss Black Metal scene. The first album Winterforst was released in 1996, followed by a release on Last Episode in 1997 with Helvetic War . For the songs Wolfshowl in the Moonlight and Horde of Avengers of the VHS Helvetic Hymns from Winterfrost , the band shot a video directed by Matt Vain .

Due to differences within the band, the band separated in 1999. After the separation, the band Morgart was brought into being.

Music style and lyrics

The band was oriented towards Black Metal "with a totally Swiss character", with the keyboard "mostly taking over the melody, but always leaving the guitars enough leeway to develop". Occasionally, “battlefield samples” are integrated into the music, and pieces like Waldpfad or Snowly Mountains convey the band's closeness to nature and “suggest a winter concept based on Immortal ”; in with the thought in Nordic antiquity only clear female voice was used, with the piece aloud Dead Left from Vönger music magazine "wonderfully tense-folk with a touch of pagan darkness [sic] " sounds. He described Winterfrost as “as unspectacular as it is superfluous”, while the Taste Of Black webzine emphasized Forsth's legendary status and recommended the successor Morgart . The successor Helvetic War deals with the wars as part of the history of Switzerland ; Turov from Vönger Musikmagazin compared the style with that of the German band Eminenz at the time of their third album Anti-Genesis (On the 8th Day I Destroy Godcreation) .
