Fortras

Fortras (research and development company for transport) is an EDI standard for data exchange between freight forwarders.

Until 2001, Fortras also designated an independent company that was merged into System Alliance GmbH in 2001. In the meantime, Fortras only refers to the EDI standard, which is also used outside the System Alliance.

Important Fortras message types are BORD for loading information (comparable with EDIFACT IFTMIN ), ENTL for unloading reports at the receiving carrier and STAT for status information (comparable with EDIFACT IFTSTA ).

Fortras messages of release 6 consist of lines of 128 characters each (hence also called BORD128), the record type is identified by a letter and a record number at the beginning of the line.

The Fortras Release 100, also called BORD512, emerged from the BORD128. This has a variable record length up to max. 512 characters. The transmission of dimensions and additional address types such as e. B. the freight payer or the different loading point.

In addition to the loading information (BORD512), there is also status information (STAT512) and unloading reports (ENTL512).
