Forum for levande historia

The Forum för levande historia ( Swedish ; German Forum for Living History ) is a state administrative authority in Sweden based in the Stockholm district of Gamla Stan . The authority is subordinate to the Ministry of Culture.

The institution, founded on June 1st, 2003, has the task of promoting democracy , human rights and tolerance as a "national forum" with the background of the Holocaust and communist crimes . The Forum för levande historia is part of a state awareness campaign launched in 1997 by Prime Minister Göran Persson .

Exhibition in the forum

The forum hosts, among other things, exhibitions, debates and seminars for teachers, publishes reports such as the Intoleransrapport (2004), organizes traveling exhibitions and annually awards the Per Anger Prize in memory of Per Anger .

The Forum för levande historia works with other institutions as part of the Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Research and Remembrance .

Since 2009 the Forum för levande historia has been an operational site of the Austrian Memorial Service .
