Franconian Moststrasse

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Franconian Moststrasse is a network of "Moststations" that extends over 20 communities in the Hesselberg region in Middle Franconia . The area of the Franconian Moststrasse is traditionally a fruit-growing area, benefiting from its mild climate.

Each cider station promotes extensive fruit growing in the region around the Hesselberg in its own way. There are several categories of must stations:

  • Orchards
  • Fruit processing equipment
  • Classroom in the countryside
  • Plants on the subjects of beekeeping / sheep farming / flowering areas
  • Gastronomic must stations
  • Sales outlets of regional fruit products

The aim of the Franconian Moststrasse is in particular to maintain the stocks of high-stemmed fruit trees ("meadow orchards") in the region and to create new ones. After fruit growing in Germany moved to low-stemmed plantations in the past decades, the recognition of the great ecological importance of orchards is slowly gaining ground again.
