Happy cemetery in Săpânța

The Merry Cemetery (Romanian: Cimitirul Vesel ) is a specially designed cemetery in the municipality of Săpânța in Maramureș County in northern Romania . The design was carried out over decades by the local artist Stan Ioan Pătraș (1908–1977). He decorated the traditional wooden grave stelae with hand-painted pictures of the deceased and with verses about their lives.
