The Elsterwerda Spring Festival is a two-day economic show that takes place every April in the small town of Elsterwerda in southern Brandenburg in the Elbe-Elster district .
The “Werbegemeinschaft Industrie- und Gewerbegebiet e. V. Ost ”, organized in Elsterwerda’s 152-hectare industrial area-East, is one of the largest events in the region and attracts more than twenty thousand visitors from the city and its surroundings every year.
In 2016 the festival took place for the twentieth time. Local companies, which are mainly based in the industrial park and are members of the association, use the weekend to present themselves and their products to the public. During the Spring Festival it is often possible to see their production facilities.
In addition to several cultural events, the program usually includes a large amusement market, a flea market, helicopter tours and other attractions organized by the companies, which has given the Spring Festival a folk festival-like character.
From 1999 to 2009 the regional rock festival " Woodstock in Elsterwerda" took place as part of the event , which gives young bands from the Elbe-Elster district the opportunity to present themselves. The later successful indie pop band Virginia Jetzt! several appearances at the beginning of her career. Other regional bands that took part in Woodstock in Elsterwerda are The Watts , Rebell , Audible and The EGs . In 2010 the Woodstock Festival was dispensed with for the first time.
