Fra Lippo Lippi

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fra Lippo Lippi is a new wave / synth pop and post punk band from Norway . She had a few hits in the 1980s including Shouldn't Have to Be Like That , Everytime I See You, and Light and Shade .

history

Bassist Rune Kristoffersen (born September 22, 1957) and singer Per Öystein Sörensen (born December 13, 1961) founded the band in 1980 and chose for the band name of the Italian painter of the same name from the 15th century (1406–1469) (the English poet Robert Browning (1812-1889), who lived in Italy for a long time, mentioned the paintings in a poem).

While their first two works, In Silence and Small Mercies, were still strongly influenced by early post-punk and dark wave in the style of Joy Division , the band later gradually turned to pop. In the mid-1980s Fra Lippo Lippi became known outside of Norway. Shouldn't Have to Be Like That was often on the radio in the spring of 1986, but it couldn't make it onto the charts.

Walter Becker , member of the band Steely Dan , produced their 1987 album Light and Shade . In total, the band released seven studio albums, one live album and several compilations.
