The Frafra are a people in Ghana and Burkina Faso also called Farefare , Gurenne , Gurune , Ninkarsé , Gursi , Nabt , Nabra and Nankani . The name in Burkina Faso is Nankani . The proper name is Ninkarsé or Gursi . Depending on the source, the Nabra, for example, are viewed as a separate people, but they also use Farefare , the language of the Frafra.

In Ghana, a focus of this ethnic group with a population of 772,000 to 820,000 lives in the Upper East Region in the north-east of the country and distributed in various larger cities. The settlement area of ​​the Frafra lies in the city of Bolgatanga , in the Frafra district and as far as Navrongo .

In Burkina Faso, the Frafra live in the Nahouri Province, in the administrative districts of Zecco and Ziou with around 25,100 to 37,000 people.
