Francis Hong Yong-ho ( Korean 홍용호 프란치스코; born October 12, 1906 in Pyongyang ; missing since 1962) was Roman Catholic Bishop of Pyongyang in North Korea .

Life

Hong Yong-ho received the priestly ordination on May 25, 1933. In 1944 he was by Pius XII. Appointed Vicar Apostolic of Pyongyang and titular Bishop of Auzia . He was ordained bishop on June 29, 1944, Abbot Bishop Bonifatius Sauer . After converting the Apostolic Vicariate, he was appointed Bishop of Pyongyang in 1962.

In the 1940s, 166 priests and religious of the Roman Catholic Church were murdered or abducted in Korea . Bishop Francis Hong Yong-ho has been considered "lost" since 1962. In 2013 he was pronounced dead by the Vatican. The year of death remains unknown.
