Francisco de Melo e Castro (Goa)

Francisco de Melo e Castro (* around 1600 in Colares , Portugal ; † 1664 in Goa , Portuguese India ) was a Portuguese colonial administrator.

Francisco de Melo e Castro came to Goa in 1601 with his parents António de Melo e Castro and Maria da Silveira. He was from May 31, 1651 to September 6, 1652 and from May 22, 1656 to June 14, 1661 member of the Interim Government Council ("Conselho do Governo") of Portuguese India . From 1653 to 1655 he was governor of Ceylon .

Francisco de Melo e Castro was married to Isabel de Abranches for the first time and to Ângela de Mendonça (* around 1610) for the second time. His son António de Melo e Castro (* around 1640) was Vice-King of Portuguese India from 1662 to 1666.
