Frank Beckenbach

Frank Beckenbach (* 1950) is a German economist .

He completed his habilitation in 1999 and has been Professor of Environmental Economics at the University of Kassel (Department of Environmental and Behavioral Economics) since October 1999 . He teaches and researches mainly in the areas of environmental economics , behavioral economics , ecological economics , limited rationality , evolutionary economics , multi-agent systems and innovation .

Beckenbach criticizes the fact that many mathematical models are unsuitable for mapping or explaining economic processes that are taught in economics and business administration. He criticizes the fact that many economics professors are sticking to "business as usual" despite the "blatant failure" in diagnosing the banking and financial crisis and the sovereign debt crisis in the euro area .

Beckenbach is a member of the Society for Socio-Economic Education and Science (GSÖBW).

In 2015, he conducted a project to ascertain how diverse economics courses are in Germany.
