The story is a humorous variant of the classic Frankenstein material with some profound passages.

Books

In 1978 the first book by Allan Rune Petterson was published under the Swedish original title Frankensteins faster (in German: Frankensteins Tante ). The story is about Hanna Frankenstein, the baron's aunt, who comes to Frankenstein and tries to sort out the chaos that has ruled the castle due to her nephew's attempts. She also meets the strange inhabitants of the castle, including Frankenstein's monster Count Dracula and the werewolf Larry Talbot.

In the later television series, it is mentioned in the opening credits that the film is based on this novel. For the series, however, the story was changed quite a lot. Characters have been removed and added, the story expanded and changes made to the plot, including a different ending. The German edition from 1987 bears the subtitle Der Roman zum TV Serie , which is a bit misleading because of the differences, as this title is more appropriate for the second book.

In 1987 a novel based on the series by Werner Meier was published in German-speaking countries, also under the title Frankenstein's Tante . In this book, the story of the television series is told with relatively few differences.

In 1989, Frankensteins faster - igen! Was published under the Swedish original title . (in German: "Frankenstein's Aunt - back!" ) the second book by Allan Rune Petterson. It is a direct continuation of his first book and therefore does not take up the history of the television series. The plot this time revolves around Franklin (named after Benjamin Franklin ), a child led by Dr. Frankenstein with the help of Dr. Pretorius was created in the same artificial way for the monster and his bride. This proves to be just as inventive as its namesake, which again leads to conflicts with the village population. The book has not yet been published in German. B. also in English under the title Frankenstein's Aunt Returns .
