The Franz Kafka Society in Prague ( Společnost Franze Kafky in Czech ) is an independent, non-profit organization. It was founded in November 1989 and today has around 1000 members around the world. Kurt Krolop was President until 2016 , and since then Vladimír Železný has held the position.

The name Franz Kafka is intended to symbolize the tradition of German literature in Prague and to raise awareness for this epoch of fertile cultural plurality of Czech, German and Jewish elements. The society is also dedicated to Kafka's legacy and endeavors to have all of his works translated into Czech . It has a replica of Kafka's private library, of which around 1,000 works were donated to the association in 2001 by the Porsche company . It also maintains a scientific library on German literature in Prague and its own publishing house.

The society has awarded the Franz Kafka Literature Prize annually since 2001 .

The company initiated the erection of a Franz Kafka monument in the Czech capital. The bronze statue of the artist Jaroslav Róna was presented to the public in December 2003.
