Franz Hallenbach

Franz Hallenbach (born February 22, 1909 in Elberfeld , † February 4, 1966 in Hanover ) was a German geophysicist .

Hallenbach studied mathematics in Cologne, Göttingen and Bonn from 1927 and received his doctorate in 1933 under Felix Hausdorff (on the theory of the limitation processes of double sequences). From 1936 he was at the Prussian Geological State Institute , where he dealt with geoelectrics for prospection and hydrogeology. From 1950 he was at the Lower Saxony State Office for Soil Research, where he headed geophysics.

He was temporarily head of the geoscientific joint tasks of the federal states and had a teaching position at the University of Bonn.
