Franz Müllner (politician, 1896)

Franz Müllner (born October 6, 1896 in Pyhra ; † February 26, 1980 in St. Pölten ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1949 to 1964, Müllner was a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament and, from 1962, its third president.

After finishing elementary and community school, Müllner attended the teacher training institute and did his military service in World War I from 1914 to 1918 , where he was highly decorated. He worked professionally as a farmer and ran the "Handelhof" in Kilb . Müllner was mayor of Rametzberg between 1924 and 1934 and was a member of the municipal council between 1934 and 1938 and between 1945 and 1955. In between he served in the army from 1939 to 1940. He represented the ÖVP between November 5, 1949 and November 19, 1964 in the Lower Austrian Landtag and was the 3rd President of the Landtag from June 19, 1962. In addition, from 1953 he was the main district party leader of the ÖVP and held several functions in agricultural cooperatives. He was made an honorary citizen in several communities and was given the professional title of economics councilor.
