Frash is the first freely accessible Flash implementation for iOS . The project was initiated by the hacker comex, who is also responsible for the spirit and jailbreakme jailbreaks. Apple has been criticized for a long time because it does not officially allow Flash on its handhelds and instead relies on what they consider to be the more stable, future-proof HTML5 .

Frash is a plug-in for the Safari web browser that is pre-installed on the iDevices. Development steps
In July 2010, the American hacker comex announced the porting of the Flash plug-in from Android to the iPad. Later, in August 2010, several news sites reported that Frash was now also running on the iPhone and iPod touch.
Usability
Frash initially only shows a placeholder instead of immediately starting the execution of the flash application. This is to prevent e.g. B. animated flash ads slow down the device unnecessarily. After tapping it, Frash starts the application. Since Frash is still an alpha version, not all applications can be executed and the plug-in often breaks off in the middle of execution. Another drawback is the lack of arrow keys for controlling flash games , for example , which further limits the use of the plug-in. Also, some functions are simply not yet implemented, so that more complex Flash files can only run insufficiently or not at all.

Although there have not yet been any reports of security holes in the plug-in, it is very likely that the plug-in is endangering the security of the iDevices. Since the plug-in is based on Adobe's libflashplayer program library , its security gaps, i.e. those of the Flash Player, are also to be expected on the iPhone.
