Alfred "Fred" Fries (born June 12, 1938 in Trier ) is a former German swimmer and German champion in the 200-meter chest course.

Career

Fred Fries swam for SSV Trier . In the Olympic elimination in 1964, he finished fourth over 200 meters breast, with a tenth behind third place. Places one to three in this discipline were taken by East German swimmers. Since there was an all-German team at the 1964 Olympic Games , he did not take part in the Olympic Games that year.

In 1965 he won the German championship on the 200-meter chest course in a time of 2: 36.6 minutes.

In SSV Trier he held the club record over this distance until 2015, in which it was broken by Mika Radeck with 2: 34.48 minutes.
