Fredrik Cygnaeus
Fredrik Cygnaeus , also Frederik Cygnaeus , ( April 1, 1807 - February 7, 1881 ) was a Finnish poet, art critic and collector.
Life
Cygnaeus' father and grandfather were bishops.
The father was invited to Saint Petersburg to work as a pastor for the Lutheran congregations. Therefore, Cygnaeus attended school in Saint Petersburg. In 1823 he returned to Finland and attended the University of Turku .
In 1842 he became a corresponding member of the Society for History and Archeology of the Baltic Provinces of Russia .
From 1843 to 1847 Cygnaeus traveled through Europe.
