The hybrid tea rose Freedom , (Syn .: DICjem ) was brought onto the market by the Irish breeder Colin Dickson in 1984. She was crossed from ( Eurorose × Taifun ) × Bright Smile . It is a classic hybrid tea with 9 cm long, long-stemmed, bright yellow flowers that are not very double. This is beneficial in rainy areas.

The breeding style for hybrid tea with long petals and elegant buds with not too dense filling on strong stems has been cultivated in the tradition of Henry Bennett by the Dickson family for six generations and has become the standard for the breeding of hybrid tea worldwide.

Successful varieties such as Mrs WJ Grant (1892), Liberty (1902) and George Dickson (1912) have emerged in this tradition since the end of the 19th century . More recently bred Dickson next to the bright yellow Freedom varieties Elina (1983), pale yellow - World Rose 2006 Tequila Sunrise (1988), Gypsy Dancer (1994) in this line.
