Freevo is a computer program to play music, DVDs, television and games on a PC under a uniform interface. The software should run on all operating systems, although Windows is only supported to a limited extent. Freevo is free software , which means, among other things, that it is distributed free of charge. Another advantage is stated that the program can play almost all known media formats . The platform has no built-in copy protection , so that content from television, for example, can also be copied. The surface is operated by keyboard or remote control.
Freevo was admitted to the Google Summer of Code in 2007 , so that Google will support the further development financially for half a year. The program has been downloaded around 200,000 times so far.
