Zeljko Vlahovic

Željko Vlahović (* 1973 in Zagreb ) is a pianist .

Life

At the age of only 22 he graduated from the Music Academy of the University of Zagreb. Since he was already studying at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz parallel to his studies in Zagreb , the pianist graduated from this university just a year later. He completed postgraduate studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main in 2002 with a diploma.

During his student days he already gave solo concerts in Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Holland, England, the Czech Republic and Japan. As a soloist he played with various symphony, philharmonic and chamber orchestras. He worked with musicians such as Nikolai Aleksejew, Sebastian Benda , Pavle and Valter Despalj, Thomas Duis and Catherine Vickers .

He won awards at several international competitions, including the "Competition of Chamber Music" , Belgrade 1990, the "Scheweningen International Piano Competition" , The Hague 1997, the "New Port International Piano Competition" , London 1998 and the "EPTA International Piano Competition" , Zagreb 1999. In 1994 and 1995 he received the recognition prizes of the rector of the Zagreb University for successful concerts in Zagreb, the Czech Republic and Japan.

His work has been documented several times through recordings on Croatian television and radio.

In 2002 the artist withdrew from the stage to continue working on his program and to further develop his style and variety. During this time he devoted himself particularly to the work of Franz Liszt. In 2004 he recorded the CD Zeljko Vlahovic Piano Franz Liszt , which was released in Berlin in 2007. He has been performing again for two years.
