The Hammermühle outdoor pool is an outdoor pool in the Hammermühle district of Bad Düben . The outdoor pool was built in 1966.

history

In 1966 the outdoor pool was opened in the Hammermühle district . At the opening ceremony at the time, only the pool was finished. The 19,000 m 2 outdoor pool consisted of a 3,000 m 2 concrete pool and a baby pool.

At the end of the 1990s, the outdoor pool, which was in dire need of renovation, was about to be closed, but thanks to a group of committed residents, the pool remained. In the years before the renovation (2018), the outdoor pool was run as a "Heidebad". In addition to the swimming pool, there was a small playground, a snack bar, beach volleyball fields and the possibility of camping.

In 2015 the city council decided to keep the outdoor pool. With the federal program “Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture” , 90 percent of the 2.9 million euro renovation costs were funded.

In 2018, the outdoor pool was closed to visitors due to the renovation work. During the renovation, the old kiosk was demolished and two new buildings were erected. The water area was halved to 1,500 m².

"NaturSportBad"

The “NaturSportBad” was reopened on May 24, 2019.

A kind of artificially created sandy beach and a rocky landscape with water play elements lead to the combination pool, the bottom of which is also covered with sand. A total of six lanes, which are 25 m or 50 m long, are available. Outside the water areas, lawns, play areas and beach volleyball fields were created. Simple wooden shelters (sleeping barrels) were built for overnight guests.

The new water treatment takes place biologically and physically, without the addition of chlorine. The water quality is comparable to a forest lake.
