The hammer mill is part of the municipality of Bad Düben , district of northern Saxony in Saxony .
location
The Hammermühle is located north of the town of Bad Düben and is an approx. 2 km long and up to 1 km wide residential area consisting of private homes. The Hammerbach flows past the village to the west . However, the hammer mill is not run as an independent local or district.
Townscape
The Dübener Heide region is characterized by forest, as is the place and the property surrounded by trees. In GDR times there was a school camp with a tea house , then called a tourist station , a kind of small holiday camp. The property has been empty for years.
Forest Hospital
The place is famous for the former forest hospital , which was built in 1942/43 and was a respected specialist hospital for lung diseases and orthopedics in the GDR . Since the new construction of the forest hospital at the spa park in Bad Düben in 1995, the area of the former forest hospital has been empty and is currently being gradually demolished.
outdoor pool
Since 1966 there has been an approximately 19,000 m² outdoor pool, which was run from 2000 to 2017 as the "Heidebad Hammermühle " . In 2018, the outdoor pool was converted into a NaturSportBad for 2.9 million euros . The city received 2.25 million euros in funding for the project from the federal program “Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture” . The water area was reduced by half to 1,500 m², buildings were demolished and rebuilt, and the previous chemical water treatment was converted to a natural, fully biological water treatment using reed soil filters. In addition to the paddling pool for small children, a non-swimmer area and 25-meter lanes and 50-meter lanes, a 16 m long wide-wave slide was installed. The outdoor pool was reopened on May 24, 2019.
Adventist Church
The Advent community in Bad Düben is a free church of the Seventh-day Adventists, who have their seat in the Hammermühle.
Culture
Hammermühler Carnival Association
The Hammermühler Carnival Association has existed since the carnival session in 1974/1975 , which has taken care of carnival activities and foolish customs. The association is a member of the "Bund Deutscher Karneval eV" and the "Verband Sächsischer Carneval eV" and has around 100 members who make contributions to their programs with show dance gardens, men's ballet, action teams, carnival women and handicraft speakers. Today it is an integral part of the cultural life of the spa town.
