Freiburg puppet theater

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Freiburger Puppenbühne is a known mainly in Baden-Wuerttemberg puppet theater with regular gaming operations in Freiburg and tours throughout the German-speaking countries and neighboring Alsace. The puppet theater , founded by Johannes and Karin Minuth in 1987 , is particularly aimed at young viewers of kindergarten and elementary school age, but with the adaptation of Goethe's Faust, a puppet show especially for adults is in the program. David Minuth, son of Karin and Johannes Minuth, has been a self-employed freelance puppeteer under the name of Freiburger Puppenbühne since 2017.

Artistic creation

The hand puppet show on the Freiburg puppet stage in the traditional peep box stage is influenced by the playing style of the puppet players Walter Büttner , Max Jacob and Friedrich Arndt . The focus is on the funny figure of Kasper , whose history is the subject of Johannes Minuth's doctoral thesis. Johannes Minuth learned the basics of playing with the hand figures from Peter and Benita Steinmann , while Karin Minuth is a trained puppet therapist. She not only designs and produces dolls, costumes and props, but also sets. In his own workshop with stage and figure construction, David Minuth, who, in addition to his work as a teacher in art history and works, completed an architecture degree with a Bachelor and Master of Arts. In addition to the performances, courses, directing work, publications and the organization of puppet theater days are carried out.

Productions

The puppet theater productions range from self-written puppet plays to literary adaptations to seasonal and topic-related productions. A mobile puppet theater car is available for short outdoor puppet theater scenes.

With Bello, a dog figure, the Freiburg Puppenbühne has a popular figure who is reminiscent of the old fair play by the Bille family . In addition to the puppet figure, he plays a major role in almost all productions, e.g. B. in The golden unicorn , Kasper and the pirate of the seven seas or Kasper and the little castle ghost .

The hand puppet pieces The Enchanted Bunny and The Flower Princess , on the other hand, are more poetic, with animals, mother earth and fairies in their fairytale world. Implementations of classic children's literature such as Pinocchio are also included.

Pieces such as Much dirt at Hexe Klapperzahn convey more educational content when it comes to environmental education and dental health.

Due to its proximity to France, the Freiburg Puppenbühne also has pieces with a French translation in its program, which are mainly requested by bilingual clubs and schools.

Goethe's Faust - The Puppet Show

It was a fairground puppet show that inspired Goethe to create his Faust. Goethe's Faust - Die Puppenshow , the solo piece by Johannes Minuth, is a transfer of the Faust poetry back to the puppet theater. The Goethe text is taken over in the original language, but the funny character is expanded in the piece by making Kasper a commentator who appears in interludes and appeals to the audience with funny allusions to what is happening on the stage.
