The Schwerin open-air theater is an open-air theater located in the palace gardens in Schwerin . It was built in 1954 and 1955 as part of the national construction project and originally offered space for around 10,000 visitors. Among other things, boxing events and open-air film shows took place there. After an extensive renovation in 1993, the stage had to be closed only eight years later because of a complaint by a local resident. The stage was reopened in 2003 with a reduced capacity of approx. 2,600 seats or 4,999 standing places. Since then it has mainly been used for concerts and other larger events. As part of the Federal Garden Show 2009 , events took place on the stage almost every day. The Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin also uses the stage as a venue.
